Real Estate agents' preview of your
house - is it worth it?
by Greg Cryns
It is called by different names. Some call it an "Agent / Office
Tour". Others call it a "Broker's Tour". Call it
want you like, but what happens is the same. The agent who had you
sign on the dotted line is your "listing agent." He notifies
agents in your local area that he wants them to come over to your
house so that they will know what you have to offer when he finds a
person looking to buy a house.
What your listing agent does not
usually tell you is that not too many houses sell by this method. Your
listing agent knows this but it will be kept a secret because he wants
to impress you with the effort. Surely I must be getting some real
value service with this, you think. That is because you think the
agents will remember your house.
Certainly it is possible that one of the
agents would sell your home but the chances are slim.
There is nothing inherently wrong with an
agents tour, but please don't think this is a great service for you
and that it will improve your chances to sell your home very much.
The fact is that the effective agents are out working with their hot
prospects. They don't have much time for agent tours.
